As darkness gently falls, traditional lanterns begin to illuminate the landscape, casting a warm glow across blossoms, birds and the peaceful beauty of a Japanese-inspired garden. Kakuru Lanterns celebrates this magical moment, where light transforms the familiar into something truly extraordinary.

Richly coloured Japanese lanterns hang amongst delicate blossom, elegant florals and graceful birds, creating a scene filled with warmth, tranquillity and timeless beauty. Swallows, blue tits and majestic cranes weave effortlessly through the composition, their gentle movement bringing life to a landscape illuminated beneath the evening sky.

Every lantern, flower, bird and intricate decorative detail has been meticulously hand drawn by Kirsty Norris BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles with Business Studies, Founder & Creative Director. Inspired by the beauty of traditional Japanese design, I wanted to create a Story that celebrates the atmosphere created by light, where colour, nature and craftsmanship come together in perfect harmony.

As part of Chapter Two – The Rising Moon, Kakuru Lanterns – The Story of Light explores the relationship between light and nature. Throughout this Chapter, the moon, the sun and the changing skies become quiet storytellers, and here the warm glow of lanterns creates another beautiful expression of that ever-changing light.
