What does it truly mean to be free?

Wild Captivity explores this timeless question through a beautifully imagined world where elegant birds rest amongst vintage birdcages, some with their doors gently left open. Some birds choose to remain within the safety of their familiar surroundings, while others embrace the freedom to spread their wings. There is no right or wrong choice—only the freedom to decide.

Majestic cockatoos, delicate lovebirds and native British songbirds come together in a soft vintage composition filled with intricate botanical details and timeless elegance. Every open door becomes a quiet symbol of possibility, reminding us that true freedom is not simply escaping, but having the choice to stay, to leave or to find our own path.

Every bird, cage and decorative element has been meticulously hand drawn by Kirsty Norris BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles with Business Studies, Founder & Creative Director. Inspired by the symbolism found in both nature and storytelling, I wanted to create a design that encourages reflection while celebrating the remarkable beauty of birds and their individual personalities.

As part of Chapter Three – The Detail in Nature, Wild Captivity reflects the growing depth of storytelling within the House of Norris Archive. Every intricate feather, delicate flourish and carefully illustrated birdcage has been created to reward closer observation, revealing new details and meaning with every glance.

Designed to bring elegance, warmth and timeless artistry into the home, Wild Captivity is a celebration of individuality, companionship and the quiet reminder that the greatest freedom is often found in having the power to choose.
